Written from 2022 to 2024; Here Now, Gone There took shape over the course of time spent between the tropical off-grid studio in the hills of Kin Kin, and home on the southern Gold Coast where we were splitting our time. Ideas were demoed by Marco, and then further developed and produced by Cam (Bass), and Timmy (Drums), along with the recording production help of regular collaborator Tay Oskee.
Befitting an album written literally between two places of contrasting noise, one presented a jungle backdrop with wildlife and torrential rain, the other with the pacific ocean and the mellow daily rituals of life in the coastal suburbs. A space between these contexts began to take shape; often pursuant of warmer, eery, edgey, sometimes pretty, sonic textures. The result is a 10 track full-length tuned to the musical polymath that inhabits the deepest spiritual reaches of our ecosystem; regularly dipping into the vast depth of the internal human experience and how each singular emotion of existence should be embraced vs confronted.
In homage to the elemental nature of the writing process, the album is out the same day Crohamhurst, QLD received 907mm of rain in a single day in 1893. One of the wettest days in Australia’s recorded history, just down the road from where the album was recorded.
